Carby's Recommendation Please

Hello All, I'm collecting parts for my +0.060" 8BA build, it will have a 2x2 manifold, a rebuilt '53 distributor and have a L110 style camshaft. I believe I need a pair of '94 carbs for the distributor vacuum porting function, so are there particular model #'s or years that are more appropriate, I also read somewhere about Y block ones being preferred too. Could someone please point me in the right direction, I will be sourcing these from here in Australia if that influences anything too. Thanks Fordbarners for your help, regards GB.

GB,
You may want to trade your Ford Loadmaster dist for a converted Chevy
dist with vac adv can. The all vac Loadmaster will hold your motor back. Bubba
and occasionally I myself convert the SBC window dists to run in 8ba's. This dist
is so easy to dial in it can be done on your motor or as Bubba does them in his
great shop on his machine. I've sent quite a few down under and so has Bubba.
Ford or Stromberg carbs.....either work well. Strombergs are more $$$$ is
all. I feel Strombergs are easier to dial in.

Walt's recommendation is "right on." I use that combination in the 94's on my 8CM, which is 0.060 over, with an L100 cam. Ignition comes through a Mallory dual point with centrifugal advance.

GB,
Which ever way you go do not forget to verify your timing mark.
Use a dial indicator on #1 cyl. (rt bank) and make sure when the piston
is at TDC your timing pointer lines up dead on with the notch on the
front pulley......take care that you are rotating the motor in the proper
direction.
Happy motoring mate !!

Listen to Charlie and Walt, though i think you could go a little smaller on the jets and maybe 3.5 power valves. Try the above and see how it runs. Yes and lose the stock dist. ken ct OMO.

Thank you everyone for your advice, very much appreciated. Re: the dissy, yes I will be eventually updating to an electronic model with the appropriate flathead advance curve, the stocker will get me rolling to start with. I was more interested in which if any model # '94 is preferred, again are Y block ones desirable? Regards, GB.

31,
Look for Ford carbs with 94 in a cast circle on the back side of the
bowl. Don't sweat having the vacuum port on the rear of the bowl....with
dual carbs your temporary Loadmaster dist won't get a proper vac signal
anyway. If any of your mates is coming to Hershey have them stop by
my space ,I can bring any pair of core 94's you wish and will charge what
ever the going price down under is or the U.S. price which ever is less.
All $$$ in U.S. currency.
If you are interested in the above offer email me direct.
