Is the engine stock? 2bbl or 4bbl?
If 4bbl are you using an ECZ-B intake manifold or an adapter?
If you go too big with cfm the carb won't function as efficiently in all-around use.
A 4bbl with vacuum operated secondaries will help out with this since the back half of the carb only opens up as needed.
Most any carb that is sized correctly for, or was original on a 289 or 302 should work just fine. .
I agree. 2100 and 4100 Autolite/Motorcraft 2 and 4 barrel carbs are very affordable, easy to work on, and work very well.
If you have money to burn, you can get a sexy Holley that will not run any better. Not knocking Holleys at all. Just stating an affordable option.
