carburetor part?

What is this? Which carburetor? Its a little over one inch long --- sorry the ruler measurement does not show. Thanks!

agree with Kurt that it looks like a power valve with the spring on the top side held in place by a washer and retaining clip
 
Finally, I found a carburetor half where I could fit the part and see that it has a purpose of sorts. The carburetor --- a Marvel Shebler. It screws into a built up cylinder inside the fuel bowl and appears to be a power valve. The bottom of the cylindrical area does have a passage.

This is the only Marvel Shebler that I have seen with this feature. Thanks for your input!
