Help, my 48 v8 was running like a sewing machine until a couple of days ago when I cranked it and found it has developed a hesitation when I step on the gas. That tells me my accelerator pump has gone bad. Any other thoughts before I order a new pump that I may not need. thanks

Just take off the air cleaner and look down the throat with a flashlight to see if the jets are squirting when you work the throttle linkage. If you see a squirt, the accelerater pump is O K. Keep things simple

If you have a black rubber accelerator pump it probable went bad with the ethenal gas. You need a leather one.

When you remove the air cleaner to look down the carburetor throat to see if the jets are squirting when moveing the throttle linkage make sure the engine is off!

I woluld also suggest make sure the ignition is off also, can't be too safe.

Also check the AP link especially at the bottom hole.If sloppy that will cause a hesitation when you first give it the gas.Middle hole there gets OS as thats the one most used. ken ct.
