Carb rebuild question

So I got my new bowl with the center drain from Lang’s. Fits well, no issues. They told me they don’t have the center drain stop ***** any more. I went in the Ecklers and order led one there but it is way too small. What am I missing? Does anyone have any advice as to where I can get the right one? This project has turned out to be tougher that I thought! Thank you!

Mission accomplished! It’s not perfect, but the point was to buy a carb and rebuild it to figure out how it works. I really had no idea how it functioned before this, but now I feel I’ve got a good sense of how they work. They’re simple but it’s brilliant engineering! Thank you everyone for your help!

Now the question I have is - what are the differences between the various Model T carburetors? Kingston versus Holley versus others etc? Are they just different manufacturers or are there real engineering differences?

There are differences. Most carburetors were based on patent, either applied for or granted, and none of the manufacturers wanted to pay patent rights so they developed their own designs for the most part. A person has to do a fair bit of research on the different Model T carburetors in order to research the individual types to see all the differences.

When Ford didn't own a patent on an accessory that they wanted to use, he would give the company a big subcontract to manufacture for him but it also included the express licence to manufacture them in house if the subcontractor had material or labor problems that could impede Ford's manufacturing of their final products. Henry had agreements with all of his subcontractors or he wouldn't give them that big fat contract to begin with. He learned to do this after dealing with the Dodge brothers until he bought out their shares.
