I need a referral for either a local or reputable person to rebuild our newest addition to the family's lungs (carb ). It's for this 1914 Ford.

Thanks is advance! We're in the Bay Area, Ca.

Yep, Stan Howe and Russ Potter are the Model T carburetor gurus. You don't say whether it's a Holley G or a Kingston Y. I haven't worked on the latter, but if it's a G you might want to get the MTFCA carburetor book and do the work yourself. I'm working on one for my 1915 roadster, and it ain't brain surgery.

Years ago I restored a 14 T It had the Kingston 4-ball model Y.The cork float had desintegrated to a pile of pieces in the bowl.I soldered the brass float from a later T carb to the early float arm & it worked fine.

Dennis,

A good stop gap would be to grab a working NH Holly and replace for the time being. Then work on the carb that's there. That will get you on the road. The way you mentioned the gas dumping on the other forum it sounds like a bad inlet needle or float that is giving up the ghost.

As Steve mentioned what's on it now?

Kingston. I like the idea of a backup - anyone have a working one for sale? This is all new to me.

Good news. Took your advice. Pulled the Holly (my mistake) off and opened it up. cork ring looks like maybe it has no more bob to it. Stole the carb of the 16 on my profile - dumped the old gas filled and guess what- running now - no leaks. Thank you. May try the kit if if that does not work call in the experts.
