Carb Jets

I have to give this a rest. I value all the comments and will revisit all of the suggestions. I am out of time until after Springfield. Right now I am working on my trailer I'll use to haul my car to Springfield. Hope to see some of you there.

Are you talking about the three positions for the accelerator pump link ? If so, it has nothing to do with how lean or rich your carburetor runs.

A bit of an update: I received an air cleaner element I had been waiting for some time to come back in stock. Alas, after taking it out of the box it looked small. It was. No way would the inner screen fit over the air cleaner inner body. I removed the screen and managed to fit the element, planning to utilize my old screen later, as I was not wanting to stretch out the copper mesh right now. My old element was missing about a third of the mesh, and I used some other filter material I had to fill the gap, therefore wanting a new element.

Well, very evident, the lean condition went away on a short drive I took. In my wildest imaginings I never dreamed that a minor lessening of restriction via my old element would result in a lean condition or the engine would be that critical AFR wise. I also received a pair of #52 jets today and will try them later. I did not drive it very far as we are getting ready to go up north, as my sister passed away. I'll likely not report on this for a good three weeks.
