Carb adjustment

I am getting ready to put a rebuilt NH carb on my dad's 1926 model T roadster pickup, I would like to know, on the choke rod on the dash is an adjustment knob in the past I have it about 1/4 turn open when starting, should that be ok to start with a new carb or should it be open more.

Thanks in advance for any help

I don't think it's enough. I'd start with about 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 turns and adjust it when she warms up (which you'll have to do any way).

CharlieB's suggestion is a good place to start. Each Model T is different so it may take a little experimenting to find the right spot for yours, then the weather changes and ... :)

I have had good luck with 3/4 turn, but as said, Each one is different. You will know quickly what works.

Guy's thanks for the quick reply, well I set it at about 1 full turn and it fired right up and just purred, I will fine tune it later but one issue that came up is that the knuckle fitting does not turn very easy it acts like the new piece rubs the joints as it rotates, you can see it where it wipe the paint off the edges, may need to try and loosen the u-joint up a bit. Guy's I put in all new from the firewall fuel shutoff to the carb and it all fit great. Nothing like seeing my 81 yr. old dad smiling when he started her up.

So Thanks to CharlieB, RedmodelT, and 15max
