Can you ID this licence plate?

[Craig Lewis]

I've showed this plate to a variety of people over the past few years, but nobody seems to know what it is from.
Even a local licence plate vendor was stumped.....
It's 3.5" x 9.5" aluminum.
...what's it designed for?
...what country?
...what's 04.04 mean?

Try http://forums.aaca.org/f170/ This is the AACA sight and they have a "What is it" section that I've had great success with.
Good Luck!

Probably a fire control district property location marker. Second line is co-ords to nearest hydrant on their grid-map. From what municipality??

A friend gave me two of this style plate. He said it was from INDONESIA. I checked my copy of Registration Plates of the World by Parker, Weeks & Wilson and he was correct. The numbers along the bottom indicate the month and year of expiration. The white on black color is for private autos. Black on yellow indicates commercial vehicles and white on red are government vehicles.

So this plate is from 1904?
Thanks for the info.

I really doubt that they had plates in 1904.....try 2004.

OK, the answer is on WIKIPIDEA. Here's the link:

Apparently, the Jakarta area, for a SUV or Jeep.

I agree. Maybe similar, but the type face looks different and the position and size of the date are different. I think you are close-but need to keep looking.
