Had an odd problem today, got stuck at a railroad crossing for about 10 mins. Of course, as the gates open and traffic starts flowing my A started to sputter and die before I could give it any gas.
So im in the roadway stalled out, with seemingly miles of cars behind me honking angrily, I limp to the side of the road using the starter motor and begin to access.
plenty of electrical power, with ignition on ammeter bounces like it should when cranking, took a screw driver to the plug leads while cranking, all showed spark then screw driver held near head bolts.
I figured the problem must be carburation since no way it could be timing since it was just running fine.
Car stunk like fuel but no gas was pouring out. good fuel flow.
After about 15 mins of this, I cranked it and it started right up.
Im starting to think it was flooded, but I've never herd of an engine flooding while running.
For disclosure, Im running a weber with a mr gasket fuel pump. Weber is a new unit from a reputable source. Been running it for about a month now with no issue. Only thing I can think that's been different this time around is I had the throttle lever pulled down to a fast idle all day, had it that way to warm up an never brought it back down.
