Any one know the centre distance between the camshaft and the crankshaft centres.
also the bore diameter of the block were the valve guides fit.
Thanks Lawrie

Lawrie Have a look on Vince Falters site , ford garage.com. I know he has the center line measurements you need . Good luck

My crank and cam were about .004 too close. I figured it out after chewing up a few fiber gears. Dan McEachern (510) 532-8228 (California) made me a beautiful custom gear set to resolve my problem. Dan is very knowledgeable and reasonable price also.

Dan did the same for me they mesh perfectly. Thanks Dan...

Four and a half years after this thread, I had to call on Dan to provide me with a -.005" timing gear to salvage a "fresh" short block that has been haunting me for decades after a run-in with America's Sweetheart antique engine family. The mains had been line bored just a little off. Hoping that it's not your problem just keep the Dan option in mind if it continues to destroy timing gears. Good Luck: Fred A

Sure will, I have just yesterday fixed the main bolts looseness up,and will then look at the fix for the cam.
