cam choice with a fordomatic

I'm wondering if any one has put a cam in a fordomatic car with good results.
I have a 51 victoria that I'm getting ready to put a 50 merc motor in. The motor is all done except a cam. Its bored to 3 5/16. S/S valves lightly ported and relieved. I'm either going to run edmunds heads and a edmunds racing 2x2, or offy heads and offy 3x2 with progressive linkage. Has fenton headers and an old mallory dual point dist.

I'm leaning towards a isky 107b thanks

I have no experience with this particular cam, however, from reading previous posts the late 52-53 Mercury cam seems to be a good choice. Certainly better than that 107B. Others are bound to advise similar. Brian

The 1007B is a great cam, but it might be a little rough for the Merc o matic. But, your biggest problem are the Edmonds heads. These heads have a very small combustion chamber to give 8:1 on a 239 ci engine. They will gove over 9:1 on your 376 and that can be a problem. I suggest you use a set of EAB heads, have them milled for .040-.050" piston to head clearance, use stock Merc cam.

That might be a better choice. The Edmonds heads have a centraly located spark plug and offer better fuel economy on a stock engine.

Even though the 1007B is my best selling cam, for your application I would recommend a 77B or stock Merc cam with the automatic.
With a manual transmission I would definetly go with the 1007B.
At 276 you have enough inches to run the carb linkage straight on the 3 pot.
