which way does the flange I will call it on cam bearings face on an aba motor front or back of the motor? my dementia set in lol

You've lost me. There are no flanges on the cam bearings.

there is a tapered side that is the end that goes into the journal first.

Are you sure we are dealing with cam bearings or could they be main bearings?
