cable into distributor cap

The cable that goes into the center of the distributor cap? How is this held in place. My distributor body was missing after transport of my car and I am trying to piece together the distributor unit. The "coil?" cable that goes into the center of the distributer is loose?

The wire terminal that is soldered to the end of the stranded wire should be pushed in until it bottoms, and it will be a snug fit. No rubber boots were used from the factory, and none are needed. Bert's, Bratton's, Snyder's and others all have a good coil wire that will stay in place.
