Cab and Bed Wood

Is body color correct for the cab and bed wood on a 29 PU? Also how does one prep the wood. Use regular wood primer and spray auto paint or auto prime and then top coat?

I have the same question as I am going to redo the wood on my 29CCPU this winter. Seems like most of the pictures I have seen have the top wood painted the body color and the bed wood finished with clear finish, but I am not sure what is correct.

all the wood, that is floorboards, inside the bed, roof bows, were painted body color. The underside of the bed wood was dull preservative black. There are other details regarding body bolt color, overspray, etc, available in the paint and finish guide. my info came from 2nd edition. the 3rd edition might differ in some respects. if you really want it correct to the latest stds, you should get the 3rd edition.
 
How does one prep the wood for body color? Use regular auto primer and then body color or wood primer then body color?
