C4 adapter

I recently posted a C4 adapter and transmission on the swap/sell site and got no response. I was asking 500 bucks for the lot, which I thought was a reasonable amount. However after discussing this with a few friends, it seem very few people are opting to go this route anymore. Just curious on how many guys are using the C4, I have several friends running them and they work just fine. ?????

Ron, the engine I built for a mate went into a hotrod that he put a C4 behind.

Ron, that is reasonable. That being said shipping on the trans would break your back. The adapter, converter and flex plate would be the way I would offer it. Unless some one is close.

Out of all the Flathead guys i know, only 1 has a C4... Everyone else, either the 3 spd. or a T-5. I wouldn't say that was a bad price for the lot.

Its something I would be interested in doing, but not at this point in my project. I rebuilt the original 3 speed but after I get the truck on the road I was considering changing to a possibly a t5 or preferrably a c4.
Might be a year or two at the rate I'm going this winter :(

The price is right on the adapter and trans, but as others have said the shipping is the killer. Is the trans rebuilt? Who made the adapter? Those are questions that should be answered in the ad. I've done two of those conversions and may do another at some point as they do work good.

Agree just advertise the adapter kit. You can buy a C4 locally for less than the cost of shipping. Maybe also advertise the fact that the AOD will also bolt up where the C4 bolts up if it is from the same engine. i.e. 302, or whatever. Seems that is what more and more guys are going to. I think that the flex plate may be the large one (164 vs 157 teeth) for the AOD if the 302 engine bolt pattern is what you have. If it is new, and it must be at that price, the vendor may just swap it out for you. I know Speedway Motors once did for me. Their kit is $399.99 with a starter nose. A new starter is $99.99.

This kit comes from Flat -O- matic, The trans Is something I picked uo localy and leaks abit, runs good, but it's not a rebuilt. The only reason I pulled it was the gran kids voted on a 3 speed with OD I also have a 3.30 rear.

Ron I have a C-4 in my 53 Customline, it is a Speedway kit. My only complaint is no overdrive! Shifts good pulls good just does not like highway speeds. By the way that Flatomatic kit is neat, 500.00 seems like a very good deal.

I like the flatomatic no chatter no miss shift faster.
I have 2.78 gears Granada 8" rear and can run any hill.
2k rpm 55 mph,2.5k =69 mph.
flatheads like about 2200 rpms.
If you were to put it on epay it will sell.

I run the C4, using the Flat-O-Matic adaptor in my '40 p/u.
I like the combination, works well.
That price is very reasonable.

the flat-o-matic kit uses a provided bell which bolts to the c-4 ****** body. the aod bell is integral to the ****** and can't be used with the c-4 kit.

Hey Ron,
Have a C4 on the back of a HV12 Lincoln !

AOD or C4 works with the Speedway kit. But, there is an adapter plate between the block and existing Bell housing. Something to be said for the provided bell housing. That explains the increased price.

The flatomatic will fit 1932 to1953 and speedway only 1949 to1953 and needs 12 volts.
I sold a c4 few weeks ago $300 and flatomatic on ebay $100 flex should sell easy for $100 plus you need the toque convertor.
On epay minis the trans i.d start at $350.
