C4 adapter

The flatomatic will fit 1932 to1953 and speedway only 1949 to1953 and needs 12 volts.
I sold a c4 few weeks ago $300 and flatomatic on ebay $100 flex should sell easy for $100 plus you need the toque convertor.
On epay minis the trans i.d start at $350.

Why does a transmission adapter need 12volts?

It uses a small block Ford starter, if I recall correctly, maybe something else. But it uses a 12 volt starter, the original Flathead starter doesn't fit. So 12 volt required.
(this is the speedway adaptor, the Flatomatic uses the original Flathead, or flathead fitment starter, so 6 or 12volt.)
Martin.

Never heard of that. Even though I'm a fan of 6 volts, it's a cool idea to get a cheap reliable starter.

Well thanks fellows I'm glad the trans is still popular. Gene the fellow that runs Flat o matic is a nice guy, very helpfull.
PS I sold it.

Yes Gene is a nice guy. I met him at the Portland swap meet, then later ordered his complete kit (very helpful guy).
Anyone interested, he makes other adaptor kits also.

If you really have a real 1932 Ford V8, I can think of a lot better things to do with it than stuffing it in a '55 panel. Not only would the resultant vehicle be a real dog, but it would be a tremdenous waste of a valuable engine.

This has to be a put on. It is an insane thing

I've a C-4 behind my Ford 302 in my 32 Sport Coupe, built in 1989 still runs strong & gets a respectable 20 mpg.

I think you've missed the point.

And a 221 ci 65 hp flathead in a panel truck is a whole nother deal than what you're running.
