C1TE Head Valve Spring Question

what is the stock setup?
is it one spring and a dampener?
what is the stock valve stem seal?
just a rubber umbrella you put
on valve stem during assembly?

Stock setup is one spring, though some heads did come with secondary damper springs. The valve stem seals were of the mushroom variety. There is some suggestion that these are too efficient on these heads and this is why valves commonly seize especially when combined with poor rocker oiling. Regards

At overhaul time, I like to use new valve springs to get the best performance out of the work and money spent. There is a common 351 valve spring that is inexpensive, easy to get, and is the right size.

these C1TE heads have springs only no dampeners.
they have what looks like rubber valve stem seals.
valve heads are in VERY good condition.
i think some work was done on this
somewhere along the way.

Happy New Years!

The stock pressure for closed spring is 70 lbs. Installed spring height 1.78 inches. Chevy 250 I-6 springs can be used, and are available at NAPA or Carquest, and there isnt a shipping charge. The correct size spring shim is also important. Chevy performance umbrella seals work well. They are the orange ones, and contain something, maybe silicon, to maintain resiliency(sp?) as opposed to becoming hardened. Inexpensive too.

y block
went out and poked seals with a small screwdriver.
they seem kind of hard.
i'm going to have valves and seats ground plus
new guides.
