it looks pretty small!
i'm going to leave it alone
drilling it out bigger is out
because i don't want to hit water cavity
or have it crumble out later because it's too thin

I have a nice used C1TE head in the garage. I ran a 1/4 drill bit in the oil hole with a drill and it came out with crud on it. I cleaned the bit, and ran it in by hand on my G head that has been in use for ten years with Rotella oil. It came out clean. Thanks for asking the question, we learned something today.

I like to run a cleaning brush through things just before assembly. Where I live, we get mud daubers in any uncovered hole as if by magic. An inexpensive rifle cleaning kit does the job well, several sizes of soft brass brushes are included.

i'm a engine cleaning brush set man myself
got the set from Direct Connection for $12-14
way back and they went with the engine
when i sold it
where you are the gun cleaning brushes
can do double duty-auto & hunting

The only thing I hunt is Ford parts. Found a good pair of G heads a few weeks back. They are at the machinists now getting new 1.94 and 1.6 valves. Then they will come home for porting, then back for a final cut on the seats and assembly.

I know McTim is fast on the salt but gee I reckon you do it in style in your 55. That is one sweet little ride. I hope mine looks as good when I finish it. Regards

i'll include the oil 'crossover' passage in this post for now.
i'm going to take another look at it.
sometimes it looks plenty big enough
other times it looks too shallow.
i'm not going to do any grinding on it.
