Buying from Mac's

Bought a pair of 28 29 CCPU cab corners from them last year. They were actually shipped in a timely manner. One of them had a bad pressing of the bead on the drivers side. I contacted them and took pictures and sent them in. I noticed that they were shipped from Howell's in Beaumont Texas. Mac's customer service person who was really really good told me that Howell's said it was shipping damage. I sent better pictures of it to Mac's showing it was a manufacture's defect. I also told them that all I wanted was the drivers side panel replaced as the passenger side was OK. I also said that I would pay shipping back on the deformed piece. I also symphathised with the customer service person that I knew first hand the problem she was having with communicating with Howell's. The next day I got a full refund from Mac's and they told me to keep the panels. The deformed one I can make work and I am using it on my truck with a little body hammer work. That's pretty good customer service in my mind.

THANK YOU for all the info guy's. I did order from Mac's today. Fantastic customer service and everything on the shelf. Had a ton of order #'s for door and window parts, was corrected a couple of times on my choices and given the correct number of part. Was ordering a glass set for a 30 closed cab pickup and got that for $300, hell I cant get it cut in town for that price. Shipping was $90 for the glass, but 15% discount on the full order price of $536 made it all good. I am looking for a local vendor close to Washington state, but for my first big order of parts for the truck this was great :)

Yes Sir Mr Parker I will Be sure to let you know how everything works out....I had to order the special hold down Bracket from Snyders. They are good to deal with...Nice people.

The Optima Battery requires a special hold down bracket for it to work in you model A and it is sold at Snyders for $27.00

tried to buy from macs today a set of running boards.thought it was a done deal until they would not give me the manufacturer. something to hide?

Wouldn't, or couldn't? Maybe the sales people don't have a list of where every single thing comes from. Maybe with their sale they are too busy to look. Maybe you were to pushy on the phone and they didn't like your attitude. Just saying that there could be many reasons. How many running board mfg's would there be anyhow? 2 or 3? And, do you really know enough about the differences among them to know which you want and which you don't? I'm not trying to insult you, just speculating.

That being said, I have found Mac's (and Bratton's) great to deal with. Knowledgeable, friendly, fast service and parts in stock.

I am fortunate that Mac's comes top several shows I go to and will deliver parts there for free-no minimum that i have encountered. I saved enough in shipping a few years ago to upgrade from chrome to stainless bumpers and the cowl band I ordered was a lot more secure picking it up than having it shipped. A+ for Mac's

Have you ever thought of going to a local glass company? The dimensions for all the glass is in the Service manual and the local glass company will usually install in the windsield frame, or window frames. No shipping charge and helps local business.

Read carefully as the 15 % discount is off a select group of items and definitely not everything. It looks like discount mostly applies to accessories !

they said their policy was to not give out their vendors name.i say there are different quality parts out there from different vendors.i had a good attitude/just did not like their policy. i would like to know where some parts are from.just how i shop.

Shipping is a little high but that's just an excuse to buy more stuff!!! I've dealt with them for years, excellent!

About a year ago I bought a set of Model A Babbitted Rods from Macs. Some had the oil dam cut part way. and some had none at all.
I called and talked to one of their Techs, he pulled some rods off the shelf and said they were also kind of hit and miss as far as the consistency of the dams.
I asked who did the babbitting and he promptly told me the name of the company and gave me the shops phone number. (I can't recall right now, I would have to look at my notes)
I talked to the owner of the Machine Shop, long story short I decided to cut them myself.
Having only dealt with them a couple of times, my experience has been excellent.

cool. just asking. Best of luck

I've frankly ordered more goodies from MAC's than any other source, but only because they always seem to have everything in-stock! In fact, they continue to amaze me, as my more "local" vendor (Sacramento Vintage Ford) seems to have trouble getting some of the parts that MAC's always seems to still have in-stock. The only problems I've had with MAC's is that sometimes when I've placed an online order with them, I never got any order confirmation or tracking-number information... so then, I've had to call them and ask for an update on my order. Overall, though, they've been pretty good, at least for me.

Speaking of glass 2 months ago a friend was going to oder his glass from one of the suppliers but I talked him into trying the local glass company and he got all the glass for a 29 Murry (sic) town sedan (8 Pieces ) for $178 yes $178

I also took advantage of Mac's 15% off (it was actually for all items with the correct yearend deal code).

One thing it did do was changed a 'sale price' of one item back to regular price before taking the 15% - ended up not much different.

I received an email confirm within minutes...

Then today I received an email from a customer service person - one item is out of stock... (the one I really wanted - the assembly where the speedo pickup is)

Do you want to
- hold for complete shipment
-or-
- ship everything else and then the backorder separately (by the way - that will cost you extra shipping charges)
-or-
- cancel the entire order

This is my first order with them... the shipping estimate they used was 13% of the order value :eek: Though I guess that makes it equivalent to a small amount off and free shipping...

I told them in my reply that shipping was high enough, don't need to make it higher - ship when complete.

Now I'll get to see how accurate their 1 to 2 week backorder period estimate is.

Their website is sooooo much more user friendly than either Snyder's or Bratten's - wish the others would catch up.:D

Yes I did, AND looked into it. Mac's price for the glass and shipping was cheaper than any glass comp in town without instalation. I dont want those butchers touchin my ride anyway, lol.

I have ordered dozens of parts from MAC's and I feel their customer service is great. The only thing that I could say was an issue is that if you order online it may take several days for the order to be processed. If you call on the phone, you will get shipping the same day. Snyders is also very good and the fastest shipping I have had from any of the companies. Brattons is a close second.

I have used Mac's, Brattons, and Snyders and no compliants. Maybe price differences, but all have treated me well. But west of the Mississippi, I would use Bert's in Denver.
