Love my Burlington. Note that the journals (of mine anyway) are at the upper end of stock tolerances, ie, the main journals are 1.499. My prior original stock crank was at the lower end of tolerance, 1.497. Same with the rod journals, .002 wider. The Burlington journals were too "thick" to fit into the babbitt that was line bored for the prior crank so used Timesaver to lap it in. Same with the rods. Just measure everything, including the end play and thrust clearances. There too it's about .002 more than the prior crank.
Both cranks were within Ford stock listed tolerances, but measure everything first.
Not likely a new Burlington will be a bolt in exchange unless you are lucky, depending on your measurements, but it will fit, or can be made to fit, and well worth it.
If for example your existing crank journals are undersized, say, .010, your babbitt will be that much thicker and about .012 will have to be removed. At some point the babbitt may have to be redone, or line bored to fit the Burlington if your existing journals are undersized, not an uncommon condition today. Just measure everything first before you do anything. Same with the rods.
I have no comment if you are using inserts since I do not use them, except a friend had trouble with the fit initially due to some mis-understanding between him and the machinist making the conversion. Many guys here do inserts for the Burlington so it can be done no problem. My only suggestion is to give the crank to the guy doing the conversion so everyone and everything is on the same page. UUH, did I say measure everything? Twice?
The SCAT is a very nice crank, but again, measure, measure, measure.
