I bought an explosion/explosive whistle on eBay and had a little trouble tracking down the bits to install it on my truck, so I thought I’d make a post here for the next person to find when they google it.
I bought a Buell Explosion Whistle on eBay for around $100. I found a spark plug adapter from Snyders to install it, but the thread on the adapter is not the same thread on the whistle. You can see this if your scroll through the listings for explosion whistles on eBay, a lot of them have an adapter that goes from a big thread to a smaller thread. The thread on the whistle is a 3/8 NPT pipe thread, the thread on the spark plug adapter is a 1/8 NPT pipe thread. I bought an adapter (two actually) on amazon for about $5. A more careful buyer can probably get that adapter with the whistle, and it'll look a little better than the modern fitting.
Once installed, the explosion whistle is a real hoot. Surprisingly loud, very silly. Can’t wait for the next parade!
