Budd Cab

Are there any figures for the number of Budd Cab Trucks manufactured, the
'31 era I think. I've got one, looking for some history
Tks

Some figures I've seen are around 100k units but I don't know if that includes all truck types that used the 82-B type cab. They only produced them for a few months but they were popular with such a low price.

Budd also built the 28 & 29 closed cabs as well as a multitude of other body part stampings.

Could you post a photo???

I wish I knew how to post pictures.

What I've found: 8,252 units were built in '31. Assume this includes the AA's too. I was also trying to find whom built the first all-steel bodies, thinking it was the Budd Cab. Now it might have been the Dodge Brothers.
I just wanted as much '31 Budd Cab history as I could find.
Thanks

Horace & John Dodge also purchased bodies from Budd. They were already dead by the time the model A came along. Budd helped develope the Ford designs on several body types. Edsel gave them specs for what they wanted and Budd would run with that to get it into steel that would work for the given patterns. Ford could make dies but they had a lot of parts to make to build 4 million plus model As & AAs. Budd, Briggs, Murray, & several other companies made the lower production models while Ford concentrated on the more popular models.

Chrysler bodies were manufactured by Budd, at least from 1924-1927. real nice all steel body. from 1927 on i have no idea.

This is a question for Puck to answer. In my opinion, he is the most knowledgeable about Model "A" production by whom and where.

The Model AA clubs publication shows 170,391 closed cab trucks were built from June, 1930 to the end of production but it doesn't break it down for soft or all metal tops.
