Bud Vases

I was given a nice set of Bud Vases for my Birthday yesterday. I have a Town Sedan. Where do you all place them? The switch for the dome light is on the pillar between the right side doors. Also my front seat is moved back 3" and the bud vase appears it will be right next to our heads. I haven't had a chance to really scope it out, it has been raining all day (in SoCal if you believe it!!).

Anybody got pictures?

I have a 28 Fordor with them. my dad put them on the pillar behind the rear doors. they look nice when you open the doors for people to see but are out of the way for every day use. I'll try to get pictures tomorrow.

Y-B: Happy Birthday. See this thread (https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=351950&highlight=bud+vase) from about a year ago, I have some pics of the ones in my car, plus some dimensions, several posts in. You need to keep the thumbscrews that hold the vase in pretty tight or else the vase will rattle.

Dang John. Yours look exactly like mine. Thanks for the pictures and birthday wishes.
The only thing that concerns me is the wire for the dome light goes up that pillar

Well, even if you do happen to hit the wire where is the ground? Look at the pic of your naked frame in Post #2 of the previous thread. You’ll need to offset the bud vase to avoid that channel, if you center the screw there’s nothing to bite into. Unless you pull the upholstered panel and inlay a filler strip.

BTW, mine in the pics is a ‘31, so the pillar is slightly different construction than your ‘30.

Good points.

On special occasions the plastic flowers in my bud vases get replaced by the real thing. It also helps to use a couple spirts of rose scented air freshener.

Y-Blockhead Belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY ! And MANY more ! YOU are one lucky guy with a Birthday present like those !

I put mine just after of the rear door. That way you won't knock your head with them if they are by the rear window or the B pillar. The down side is that getting out of the car one day I broke the support. So I will have to have one printed again.

Thanks Cape Codder, my CEO takes good care of me.

John, I took your idea one step farther and installed the bud vase bracket over the light switch, using the top screw of the switch for the upper screw and putting another screw below it. I didn't like the looks of the Bud Vase offset. (Wife sez I'm anal about things like that...) Makes using the switch a little inconvenient but I rarely use the dome light anyway. Thanks for the tips.

Looks good. So long as the side air bag doesn't go off it should be fine.
Not popular here due to open cars. Hard to keep the flowers in at speed.

I have a bud vase on the dash of the blue roadster. It hangs on a bracket that a good friend in my club made. He put a small screw on the side to lock the vase in, it bounces a little but doesn’t rattle.

Nice!

Hi Ruth,

I had a H.S. student design several styles, where I picked one and he printed it. I have a set of Carnival glass style vases that have six or eight sides. So that is what they fit.
