Brumfield, Winfield or other?

Went for a ride tonight. Hills that I used to down shift on I accelerated up in third gear! Kudos to the Snyder head!

I realize this is a near impossible question to answer exact but, typically what kind of power to mildly modified A's produce with say the 5.9 Brumfield head?

When you run the 5.9:1 Brumfield head do you also have to change the carburetor or is the zenith large enough?

besides peak HP i'd assume the better head also increases low rpm power significantly as well?

i have a snyder milled .050 , maybe like 6-1 . works great for the money .......... steve

Have had a few Snyders heads of local club members that have had to be milled right out of the box to achieve a good gasket to head seal. Everyone likes em though across the board.-Weeks

I run a SNYDERS head and love it.No more shifting on hills.I can actually gain speed on most hills RAY

Will work well and you will see all the benefits of the higher compression.

A HC head will give you the most bang for the buck with the easiest install as well.

I am running a repop Winfield from Jim Gordon on my Lakes Modified and my grandson ran 82 MPH with an ET of 15.9 at this years Antique Nationals. Of course this was in a "hot rod". My pistons were ,032 above the deck so I machined .012 off of the top of the pistons and with the head gasket compressed to .060 this gave me .040 clearance as there is no flycut on these heads.

I prefer the combustion chamber of the Winfield, it is more modern and less prone to knock. The cylinder head being used is not related to carb size but a bigger carb will result in more horsepower. Carb & compression are the 2 quickest and easiest ways to better performance.

Better yet, how about I copy Snyder and Winfield and sell them for less?

I do all my own pattern work and I own my machines.

Yes, that would look great, new Brumfield Heads to go along with the old..... the new Brumfield S model and the new Brumfield W model.... aluminum or iron, your choice.

Mr. Tube,

The Reg. Brumfield Head 5.9 alone, without adding or changing anything else, adds anywhere from 10 to 15 MPH top speed increase to your stock A engine. If speed is not your game then use the power for climbing hills in high gear where before you had to shift to second. I have a stack of testimonials to prove my claims dating back to 1986!

If you want more, then a Brumfield Super Head will provide it. If you want still more, then add a better cam, larger valves, bigger downdraft carb and manifold, etc., i.e., the whole nine yards.

One sure way to stimulate the economy is to make and sell your product. It gets money flowing. They can pay you so you can pay the other guy and he can pay the guy he owes.:D

Thanks Mr. Weeks 46 (number 24 post above).

I knew all of that and of course I'm not refering to Mr Weeks 46 but do you see me coming on this message board or any other trying to make a big issue out of it!?

Take notice Mr. Aerocraft Gar Williams!

With a little thought it ought to be easy to understand why one NEVER sees the catalog men, i.e., Snyder, Bratton, Mac, etc., ... ALL OF 'EM, participating in this forum. They are not without problems with their parts! Snyder probably determined his remedy by reading my posts.

Larry, it sounds like you should move to the swap page and take orders. If you reach your magic number then you could get back into production. Sounds like there is a need and a product.

Larry:
I would also like to place my name on the waiting list. I'm sure the Snyders head is okay, but the quality and workmanship is superior in the Brumfield. Is there any number of pre-orders you would like before starting production again? I'm looking for the 5.9 also.

Thank you Kiwisus. I sent you an email.

If you are planning to make heads within 6 months, I would like to be on the list as well.

I am willing to make a deposit of up to 100% provided it is fully refundable if I don't have a head in 6 months.
