Brumfield Head

Seller has most of the top end for sale, makes me wonder what happened to the bottom end. Or rather, how many piece it may be in. :D

Idle speculation that THIS brumfield head (7:1) did any destruction to the engine that it was on...because it did not!
7:1 isn't that high compression, unless you are putting it on a worn out engine.
Also , if you're using a high comp head wrongly, by poor application/installation of course you're asking for problems. And I'd like to be instructed how DRIVING with a high comp(in this case 7:1) head , properly installed on an engine....would destroy that engine:confused:

Well said hardtimes.

Oh goodness gracious if they had that 7:1 head and electronic ignition, look out your car's going to self destruct! HAHAHAH!!!!

Seth, exactly:)!
And, that's exactly the combination that I'm now using and have been for 6 years:eek: My B has never missed a beat with the pertronix kit that I installed in a hour back when. To show you that I haven't learned my lesson, I'm soon to install a Mallory electronic with auto advance...that way, I'll have a elect spare:D

besides the higher compression what makes this head more desirable than say Synders, Winfield, Lion etc.. is it because of cast iron vs. aluminum? Thanks

Since I know the Seller (as do many of you since he frequents Fordbarn) along with several prospective (wanna-be) Bidders, I want to be cautious what I/we say at the moment so as not to adversely affect folks on either side of the Gavel however as soon as the "closing bell has sounded", we will engage in a discussion regarding this.

Now $510. Hope it's not warped, even if the price is.

I'm going to guestimate $750.This is something that is very desirable, and in an auction format it would be very easy to lose your head trying to outgun the other guy.I once had an old Bates leather chopper seat from the 60's.I figured I would put it on ebay,$20.would be more than enough. It was well used, ratty, tatty, but perfectly usable. It came down to two fools,(the buyers words, not mine,)who needed that seat to fit a period project that a new seat would be out of place on.It brought $6-$700.and went to a bike restoration shop in California.I had 25-30 bids, but the last dozen were between two guys, and all in the last two minutes.I watched it jump from $50.to over $600.in that time. The buyer told me that they were getting it at all costs,no matter what they were.I can see that happening with this head, there are people that want something just because somebody else wants it and will pay any amount to put one over on somebody else.

Ah, losing your head to get a head. :)

Keith,
You got a laugh out of me, as I've been there/done that...both sides:) !
Heck, it USED to be fun years ago to compete and get beat by $ bags !
Your expressed experience, mine and free advert here, tell me that Mr. Brumfields' head will top out at close to a grand:eek: ! Hey, after all it is a collectible and useable..rare combination adding to its value. Just think...no more made ever (mabe)...when bidding! Your self described 'fool buyer' are not that uncommon..have you noticed?
Note to self: reregister with epay and break open piggy bank/chips & dip:D

The bidding frenzy at the end of an auction never ceases to amaze me. The other day I saw an item get bid up to close to $300, when in another part of the site there was an exact (same part #) item listed in a "buy it now" listing from a different seller for $20. I thought to myself that I should have bought the $20 one and offered it to the "looser" in the other auction for $200.:D

The trouble is the second place bidder has time to think it over and won't buy it for anywhere near what he did bid. When you used to be able to see who was bidding and contact them I made such an offer a couple times and never heard back.
