The old car world has lost another very significant man. The following is a quote from the Early Ford Registry today.

Bruce W. McCalley passed away early this morning (Feb. 16, 2012)

“Bruce was one of the six founders of the Model T Club of America. He was the editor of the club’s publication, The Vintage Ford, from its inception in 1966 until 1991.”

“Bruce, in collaboration with another of the club’s founders, Ray Miller, wrote the first definitive study of the Model T Ford, the book From Here to Obscurity, which was first published in 1971.”

Bruce’s "Model T Ford – The Car That Changed The World" was published in 1994 and quickly became the Model T Reference Bible for all in the hobby.

I read about Bruce's passing on the MTFCA site....a great loss has befallen the club, the community and hobby as a whole for sure.

Bruce taught me about life as well as Model Ts.
I frequently think of his phrase " The first liar has the best chance".

I first met Bruce McCalley when I joined the MTFCA in 1967. The club would have their monthly meetings in the basement of a bank in Tarzana, California, in the San Fernando Valley and he was always a joy to be around. He was a very funny guy with a quick wit and great sense of humor. He was an inspiration to all that knew him.

Sad to read this, but Bruce sure made his mark on the Model T Ford hobby. I joined the MTFCA in early 1967 and always looked forward to reading his newsletter. I can't look at a T without thinking about him and other guys that got me interested in these great automobiles. Bob

I'm saddened by the loss of Bruce. I had the pleasure of meeting him many times at Hershey at the Model T Ford Club of America spot. He was a fascinating and fun person to know. One of my favorite books was his "Model T Ford, The Car That Changed the World."
That became my Model T bible.
He was a wonderful writer and expert on all things about our beloved Model Ts.
Of course, he'll be greatly missed.
The Model T Ford hobby has lost a great mentor.
