christian Senior Member Apr 17, 2014 #4 Hate to admit to it, but I drove on a broken rear shakle over the summer and fall. With the spring riding directly on the axle, and it actually didn't ride all that bad. Replacemt was easy, so long as you have a good quality spring spreader.
