Had a post a few days ago about a broken piston, I installed four new pistons and rings re shimmed everything had the manifold re surfaced and got it together goes down the road real good at 45/50 mph but has very bad slow idle I think it has an intake leak somewhere can close the idle screw in the carb all the way no difference open it 1/2 turn makes it worse, I removed the manifold checked gasket replaced no change put a little oil around intake ports while running no change vacuum windshield wiper works good trying to figure what do next?? Gordy

I have found that external engine noises such as vac leaks can be detected very easily by using a 3 foot piece of hose such as heater hose. Put one end to your best ear and search with the other end. Vacuum leaks can usually be found quickly. Thanks...Richard

Should take it a little slower 30-35 till the pistons get broken in. for about 500 miles.Idle jet could be plugged Zenith Carb?

Richard. Thank you for the tip it worked perfect, The problem was so easy that I looked right past it, The carb flange was slightly warped where it bolted to the manifold sanded it flat installed and it idles so nice you can count the revolutions.
Thanks very much for the help. Gordy

Gary. Just ran it up to 50 for a minute wanted to see how smooth it ran there.
Using a tilly carb. Gordy
