broken idle mixture screw

I have a Zenith casting with a broken brass idle mixture screw. What is the angle I need to find from either gasket surface to drill this out? I already realize it would be easier to just find another one and use that. But I like a challenge.

If it is indeed a brass mixture screw, and you don't mind replacing all the other brass passage plugs in the carb body, you can soak the carb in ammonia. Ammonia will disolve the brass completely after a few days. The downside like I said is that all the other brass plugs will dissolve too. But the upside is that you'll be able to easily chase the passages to make sure they're clear. I found that when tapping in the new brass plugs that a little coating of epoxy helps seal them.

Yes it definitely is brass, thanks for the suggestion, that sounds like probably the easiest solution. I do have a set or two of the plugs already. Thanks

How/where is it broken ? Can you get to it with a small cut off wheel and cut a slot in it without causing too much other damage ?

Or a reverse drill. It’s not a “torqued” connection, so it should spin out fairly easy. If it broke because it’s “stuck” a little heat and kroil first.

It is broke off flush with the housing due to corrosion. I might start with putting some ammonia in the holes that the needle passes thru. And let it soak a bit. I don't have kroil yet, but I have had real good results with hydraulic fluid and acetone mixture for a break loose juice.
