Broke Lug when removing heads

Hey guys,

While trying to loosen one of the nuts on my heads, I snapped off a lug. What is the best way to remove the snapped lug?

I am thinking of going ahead and replacing all of the lugs because there is a lot of rust on them. What is the easiest way to remove lugs that are still in tact?

Thanks!

If replacing them I just use a small pipe wrench . Stud remover would be a better choice . DO NOT run a regular tap in the block . These are "tighter" threads . This has been discussed several times B4 .

If studs are realy tight, you can heat the block a bit around base of stud & drip some candle wax on it & it will seep into threads making it easier to remove.

If the studs are still serviceable, I would not replace them. Clean them up before you make up your mind. Replaceing studs is not a fun job.

Soak them with 50/50 mix before you try to remove them. They'll come out easier. Weld a washer/nut to the broken stud, or have a friend blow it out with a torch.
