Broke distributor.......

If it is not going together easily there is something wrong. Not just distributors but most everything. Even things like bolting a wheel bearing retainer take care to ensure it is square and not getting cocked. I remember one time a guy could not get a transmission to go in. When i pulled it back from the bell housing I found he forgot to remove the clutch alignment tool. And yes he had put a lot more of those together than I had.
 
Years ago a Friend of mine did a clutch job in a dimly lit barn. He was real proud of himself until he stood up and kicked the throw out bearing.

Hooked the clips backwards on my 49. It worked but it did not feel right. Ended up needing a new hub. Those convertible overdrives are not easy on your back.
 
A guy I knew, did a complete clutch job on his Pontiac Fierro and then poured the 90W transmission oil down the clutch vent and soaked out his new clutch assembly! :D:D:D
