Bring A Trailer 34 3 Window Coupe

Boxcar Tom, can you educate us on the added percentage you indicated? I thought BAT had a 5% buyer’s premium, so wanting to know what the 6.632% entails. Thx[/QUOTE

BAT final = $57,831. so I just did reverse math to determine the percentage.

$54,000.00 + 6.632% = $57,831.28

$54,000.00 + 5% = $56,700.00 so BAT would have to explain the difference.

Hmmm. With shipping perhaps?

Sold for $54,000

57,831 was the seller's thumbs-up count at sales end.

Interesting that the first comment made after bidding closed stated: "Will be interesting to see how the follow-up ’34 Ford original 3 window does in value to this $120K sale. Resto-rod versus Original".

Nobody hates it more than me but the reality is that the hot rod hackers often find a well restored car the most cost effective way to "build" one.

Sadly, this is exactly what happened to one of my '40 coupes. It was a 998 point restoration built with a factory installed Mercury engine. Well documented.

Nobody is restoring Conestoga wagons any more and where is the chorus of "its Your car do what ever you want"

Lucky Us, we live in a time when we could appreciate them as common every day used car survivors to restored jewels. Now a different generation has a different appreciation for them.

If we live long enough we'll probably see them electrocuted. (the cars!)

The flip side, my first 32 was a Hot Rod 32 3W. After I saw Daves restored six wheel 1932 Deluxe Roadster at Hershey in the late 60s I was inspired and lucky enough to own 3 more 32s, all original flathead powered.

I will sit back and let my 5 window appreciate in value while I simply enjoy driving it around town. While the rear view mirror with the embedded clock is neat, I'll take my vintage, era correct, working radio any day. :)

Good luck with appreciating in value.

Tom,

I wish I could locate that roadster and reacquire it. It was stupid of me to let it go. I have had others since, including fine tuning someone else's older restoration acquired a month or so ago, but it's just not quite the same as that first one.

David,

I may have mentioned this before. When I was living in Ohio I met Tom Lester (Lester Tire). He had a Winter Leaf Brown 1932 Ford Deluxe six wheel roadster that he wanted to sell. Price $7,500.00. It was identical to your roadster. Time frame was 1973-74. Whats the possibility of someone else building an identical car. The more I think about it that had to be your car.

Any pictures of your latest? Stay Healthy, Happy New Year

Tom,

That roadster was Old Chester Gray and Tunis Gray.

The new-to-me recent addition had a stable mate that tagged along on the trip east.

Dave,

My mistake, when I see Old Chester Gray, I think (incorrectly) Winterleaf Brown. Somehow early on, I got those two colors mixed up and its hard un-gluing the mix-up. Regardless of my mis naming the paint color, Tom Lesters roadster and your roadster as displayed at Hershey were identical in color, content and execution. Two identical 1932 Ford deluxe roadsters in that time frame, what are the odds?

Small image, but the two latest look great.
