My original brass rad was removed from an original 1914. not finding an original, i purchased a repro.Problem now where hood begins angle slope the is a space between the rad and hood when closed.
The original rad did not have this problem.

Should there be shims or are repro rads not problem free?

Greatly appreciate a solution.

Thanks

If I understand your description, no, you shouldn't need shims. I'm a little unclear on whether you still have the original or not. If you do, you can get it recored. This has two advantages. You keep the original tank (the repro is not an exact copy). You also spend less. Mine was about $300 less than a new radiator.
