brakes

I may have mention this before. I'm planning to put front disc brakes on my 53. I had planned on putting a booster on it but have been measuring the space and don't have the room for the booster.
Without the booster will the car brake better then with the drums or will it be about the same? Thanks for any help.

No experience with this on old Fords, but I've had 2 Corvettes (a '67 and a '68) with non-power disk brakes and I was fine with them. Other folks were surprised, but got used to them after a little "seat time".

Wilwood has some pretty inovative master cyl/booster setups for older vehicles. I have had mediocre success with non boosted front discs using a master cyl from an early mustang spec'd with discs, but not the power option. In the future I will try harder to have the brakes boosted.

I have a Midland Hy-Power brake booster, 55-57 T-Bird on my '40, shown below. It works very good and can be remotely located. There is a company in Australia that made a similar design, PBR-40 and PBR-44. The Chinese have copied it and they can be found on Amazon and Ebay. The 44 is the closest to the old Midland units with a diaphragm diameter of 5.75".
