Brake ?

Just recently installed new front brake pads on my 1950 ford custom. The car seems to pull to the driver side when I apply the brakes. What do I need to do to fix this

"Pads" refer to disc brakes. Drum brakes have "shoes". Which do you have? We can probably help you with the stock brakes. You might also get lucky with some disc knowledge as well.

If it's "shoes" that you have, one cause of the car turning to a side when the brakes are applied means that the other side may not be adjusted the same as the side it's turning to (makes sense?). Reset the shoes and make sure that the adjustment is even on both sides. After resetting, step on the brake pedal and recheck the adjustment.

Other causes could be a bad lining (maybe fluid soaked) different material on one side than the other, a hose blocked or internally bad, a bad wheel cylinder. All these should be checked out.

If the hoses are old, I would replace them.

Make sure the shoes are installed correctly...ie, the shorter linings to the front, longer linings to the rear.

Shoebox Fords have "self-energizing" brakes with primary and secondary shoes. It makes a difference on where they are installed.

The 49-51 Ford shop manual states that the forward shoe is the primary shoe and the rear shoe is the secondary shoe.
