Brake Shoes

I installed Flathead Teds brake kits. After installing the shoe springs the rear shoe pulls away from the backer plate about a 1/2 inch. Is this normal?

I ran into the same difficulty when installing Flatheads set up on a club members car. The spring set he had bought was incorrect. Some of the suppliers are selling an incorrect spring set. They are much too strong and they have the hooks on the end oriented incorrectly. The ones Bratton's sells are correct.

Just ran into the same problem this week with the springs being too strong and would not release the top of the shoes in the adjuster. Why are we having so many problems getting decent brake parts. One vender even says to "drill out the rollers", as the cadium plating has made the hole to small to fit his incorrectly made roller pins! Really getting tired of this crap! What about the grade 5 Wheel studs that collapse like a marshmellow! Be sure to use only grade 8 studs that have a marking on the head of the stud for the front wheels.
