Last night i was trying to see what i had that worked for the brake system and i ran into a bit of a problem. When i hit the brake pedal the brake cross shaft rubs the tailshaft area of the transmission. Is there a braket that is supposed to hold it up? there is no play in the area I tried to lift if up and it didnt move at all.

More than likely, the frame has sagged in the area where the rear motor mounts connect to the frame. This is common and can be corrected by chaining the frame down in the front and back and jacking up the frame in the area under the rear motor mounts.

I have seen this problem with "Float-a Motor Mounts" when the rear bracket was not used to support the u-joint housing on the center cross member. Check to see what type motor mounts you have.

Thanks for the help guys. I dont realy have a place to chain the frame down so im going to try to switch side with the motor mounts.

I don't think changing the mounts will help, since my friend had the same problem, and his frame was bent where the rear mounts bolt on.

When I pulled a string from one end of his frame to the other end, the sag at the rear mounts was about 5/8" as I recall. No body was mounted yet, so it was easy to take the frame to a shop and have it straightened. But even with a body, it's not a big deal for any frame shop.

Most frames need to be straightened and most motor mounts need to be reversed. It's hard to tell which is the most culpable in this case, but probably both should be done. See if you can get your hands on a piece of 6 inch "I" beam about 12 feet long to chain it down to, or find a stretch of abandoned railroad track. read this:

It's not as hard as it sounds
