I have The Scandinavian pre drilled lining sitting in front of me. Now I'm wondering If I should start on the end of shoe or the middle to start riveting? Or does it make any difference ? What about adhesive?
Start in the middle and then do the holes next to it. Before you do the ends, use contact cement and clamp overnight. Some may say its not necessary, but it makes a nicer jod when finished. Personally, I use bonded linings so I can use 100% of the lining, instead of just the 30% before you start rubbing on the rivets!
I was told that the wear grooves in the drums come from dirt (grit) accumulating in the recesses for the rivet heads, and not from the brass rivet heads themselves.
If the lining wears down to the rivit heads the rivit heads will cause the grooves, if the lining hasn't reached the rivit heads and yoou have grooves it may be the scenario you describe. Metal to metal noise or scraping sound is usually the rivit heads rubbing the drum. JMO
