Brake line diameter

Starting to set up the braking system for my f1.

Going with ECI front disc brakes and booster system.

I would like to purchase pre-bent brake lines and have only found them available in 3/16.

I was told to use 3/16 to the front disc brakes and 1/4 to the rear drums.

If the system is all 3/16 would there be any issues?

Also any suggestions for vendors for the lines would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Pressure is the same regardless of the line size. The only reason you would need the larger diameter lines is if more volume of fluid is required. Normally wheel cylinders require less fluid than disc calipers, but that may depend on the rear cylinders/brakes you are using.

Early Ford systems used 1/4 lines, almost all modern systems use 3/16 (or the metric equivalent).

Recommend using copper nickel tubing and make the ends yourself with a DOUBLE flare. Copper nickel is very easy to work with. Most all bends can be made by hand. Local Napa should have that and the double flare tool. Practice a little first. And don't forget to put the nut on before you flare the tubing!! I forgot that step more than once...

Who in the world sells a pre-bent line kit to put power disk brake system on an old Ford? How do they know where the master is going to fit? I've never heard of such a thing and truly doubt it will fit without modifying. You are better off starting from scratch (with the help of an experienced friend if need be).

I suggest calling ECI and asking them your questions about tubing sizes. Anybody else speculating about ECI's system is a risk. They are the "engineers".

If you are going to do it yourself don't buy a cheap-arse one they simply don't work. A minimum should be an Eastwood turret type.
Its fun making your own brake and fuel lines ; )

The Eastwood turret flair tool is well worth the cost. After spending time bending a tube you do not want a makeshift flare.
