Brake Cross Shaft Locations?

I think that doing away with the equalizer system was to improve the safety of the braking system. With the equalizer system, if a rod broke or a pin fell out on one side, the brakes would fail. It that happened without the equalizer system then you would still have some braking.

I would like to know what others think about this idea.

The service bulletin on the independent E-brake cross shaft change in on page 449 but the full change from the equalizer to the independent e-brake is on page 297 for November 1928. The single plate clutch SB is just before it so a lot of changes were made in that time frame. There are several pages of information and illustrations but there are no dimensional drawings of where the new E-brake cross shaft is mounted. I suspect that the service brake shafts were just removed from the frame and clam shell housing and the new one piece shaft was installed in the same locations on the frame rails.

They only mention that there were fewer parts involved in the new design making it simpler. They don't mention any other problems associated with the equalizer set up even though it is obvious that having another way to stop the car is a big benefit.
