Brake Centering Tool

I see that the brake centering tool is used to check to see if the brake shoes are centered to the backing plate. However; I have never heard about what to do if they are not centered. So, what do you do if they are not centered?

Thanks for your time,

If they are not centered, you are supposed to be able to "bend" the track that the rollers sit on in the direction you need. That being said, Flat Head Ted makes square roller pins so that as you turn them, you can raise or lower the shoes. Most suppliers carry them, but they are not cheap!

The Brake Centering tool is used to measure the distance up/down of the shoes in respect to the Brake Drum. The Roller Tracks, where the Roller
Track Pin sits, are bent up or down to center the shoe. I use a 14 inch Crescent to bend the track. Ofcourse, if the tracks are worn they should be repaced or repaired first.
