Fellow barners need some refresher advice on adjusting brakes on a 1935 ford truck half ton it’s been about 12 years since I’ve had to do this and my memory has lost some of its charm helping out a buddy of mine the system has been converted to hydraulic but the shoes and adjusters have all remained the same any info would be appreciated thanks Joe 1950

Joe 35 mechanical adjusters are way different than any hydraulic brake adjusters. Push of backing plates would help. There are a couple of different hydraulic adjusters. We need to know exactly what you have to be able to advise you.

it doesn’t have hydraulic brake adjusters just the wheel cylinders were installed but it still has the excentric adjustment screws and lock nuts

Really no way to help you without a picture of the backing plate as KiWinUS mentioned above.

here's an ebay listing for a couple of 1935 1936 Ford REAR BRAKE BACKING PLATE ASSEMBLIES Original pair. can't say that i know that they are the type you're referring to, but if they are the pics may be of help.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/326308567853?chn=ps&mkevt=1&mkcid=28&google_free_listing_action=view_item

from one of the pics of the back, it looks as though there is one adjusting mechanism at the bottom that forces the shoes closer or nearer the drum. ...pretty simple and not like the backing plates on the rear wheels of the hydraulic brakes on my '41. which have four adjusting mechanisms per wheel! :)

if the pics represent the type of system you're referring to, then they may be of help. and i'm just guessing, but i'll bet that turning that square headed bolt in and out will move the shoes closer to or further from the drums.
