Bonnie and Clyde stuff

I took these pics 12-18-10 in Verdi NV . This is the actual "Warren car" described above by TonyM . I posted these about a year ago also . Yes it was a new car when Clyde borrowed it but as you can see it has suffered much from handling-theft over the years . Pretty beat up nowdays . This car was at the MN state fair when I was a kid & I thought the backwards doors were off the scale on the neat-o-meter & that hasn't changed to this day .

Lawson, & others... if memory serves (?), I believe the B/C car was taken on the Great Race, in preparation to sell it - this would have been 30-40 years ago. If this is true, there should be some record of it in GR records ?? I think there may have been some mention of this in a long-ago V8 Times...
BTW, the wife & I drive by Primm on a regular basis. If anyone really cares, we could stop in & see if it's still there. Too bad I didn't read this thread a few days ago. We drove by there on Wednesday. Last time I actually looked was at least a couple years ago.

It did indeed run in the Great American Race - complete with a new engine & different wheels-tires . Around 1987 it finished if memory serves me correctly . It was sold shortly after .

Back in the 80's my wife and I lived in Northern Nevada, and every so often we would venture up to Virginia City for a look around and some fun. One year a small Casino on the main drag had a sign out front, See the Bonnie and Clyde death car. We thought 'sure' in Virginia City. It a no charge admission on the second story. If you have ever been to VC, you would question how a car was placed on a second story of a very narrow building that was built 100 years ago? So we figured it was a copy to get tourist inside. So we ventured up for a look see and at first we just played it off as a fake, until we looked at the original news clippings and crime photos and the bullet holes matched including directionality, meaning, the dirctions of the bullet exits as shots came from all around. We were shocked and really looked close as it was set up in a very small room and the rope barriers were touching the car and we could touch it as well. Did I have my camera? Nope, teach me.
Later I saw it in a big glass case at the Impeial Palace collection.
And now I read it is a Whiskey Pete's

>Would an 'Arvin' heater earn a points deduction?

I have a 36 Phaeton with a number of dealer installed accessories, including a radio and an Arvin heater. I believe in my heart the heater, and radio were installed when the car was delivered.

While having the car judged at Hershey this year (AACA) I was questioned about whether the heater was an approved Ford accessory. The judge knew Ford didn't offer a hot water heater in 36, and I did not dispute his call, nevertheless it cost a significant loss of points - justified or not.

So . .. . .. the answer is: it would most probably cause a deduction for several items, i.e. unapproved accessory, 2 extra holes in the firewall, extra switch in the dash, and probably for the heater hoses and connections.

In my case, since it does work, and was original to the car, I'm going to leave it.

We saw the car and exhibit at Buffalo Bills across from Whiskey Petes in November last year. They tend to share the car going from one side of the highway to the other. It was on display with the Dutch Shultz / Al Capone '31 Lincoln sedan.
