bonded brake shoes

I have a question re bonded linings. Can the lining be removed from the shoe with simple tools without ruining the shoe?

Heat is what releases the glue. I do not know the temps but I would suspect it to be around 400 degrees. Maybe a quick call to a brake shop in your area? Again, we recently covered this topic and I feel the best value is to purchase the new brake shoes with the woven lining already installed,

The quote I got to remove the bonded lining from "EACH" shoe was like 17-18 $ here in Portland Oregon. They heat them in an oven. I tried with one shoe and a propane torch, what a stink! Don't really want to be breathing the fumes anyway.

Thanks guys. I saw that about the same time someone posted a similar question. I already have the linings, so since I want to keep some cores and I will order new shoes from Brattons and rivet up my own.
