Body Blocks

I am getting ready to install my 30 coupe back on the frame. :)
I have all the original wood blocks and pads, but have chossen to use new ones.

My question is should I start with bare wood on all the blocks, or count the pads on the old blocks and add that many to the new blocks as my starting point to alligning the body?

How was it done at the factory?

Thanks

That's a great question, bobmc. How could the guys on the line possibly have time to screw around with shims as the car was moving past?

Original wood blocks have a piece of fabric reinforced rubber nailed to the bottom of the wood blocks. 2 nails (like upholstery tacks) placed diagnally are used.
