Body block question

Putting body on 31 Tudor. Put the anti-sqeek strip down entire length of frame with holes cut out. Put running board splash pans on top of that. I see by Lee Andrews book that the rubber shim goes on top of the blocks...no problem. However...The blocks that sit on top of the splash shield do not show a rubber piece between the block and the splash shield. Should the block sit on the metal splash with now rubber or other non sqeek piece....wood right on the metal?

Not sure I explained too well. How does it go?

Thanks a bunch...am mounting now. Curt

All the original wood blocks I've seen had a fabric reinforced rubber nailed to the bottom of the wood block using 2 small tacks in opposite corners. Maybe added rubber shims for alignment go on top, but I'm not sure of that, as I'm not a bodyman.

the rubber pads go on top of splash aprons under the body blocks, the rubber pads are also used for shimming the body to align the doors, if you cut a slot in the pads from the hole to the side of the pad you will be able to install and remove them when aligning the body with out removing the body bolts
