BOB KEHOE
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but Bob Kehoe passed away on wed. Aug 13 2014. Bob joined the 2-club I believe in 1970, driving his Sundowner Corvette. He had fallen and broke his back a few months ago. To complicate that, and a heart operation, he couldn't recover. He had been in a lot of pain, now he is resting comfortably.
Bob became interested in 4-bangers and joined the 4 ever 4 cyl. Club in 1993 and restored a really nice sprint car powered by a 4-port riley and also a ’30 coupe with a Denver Miller under the hood. RIP Bob.

Hey John,
That is sad news, indeed. I never met/knew Bob, but only heard good with use of his name and association with FAST ! Whew, loosing too many of those members and their knowledge that is lost with them! I pray that his family sorrow will lessen as time passes. RIP..Bob

Thanks Rick,

I had met Bob at a couple events, His cars are absolutely beautiful.
The first time I saw the Riley in person I took about 100 pictures.

It was a pleasure to have him look my car over and approve for Club acceptance, and yes, he did catch a lazy (on my part) detail. He overlooked it based on the fact that this is a one-off car.

Hey John, thanks, that's good story of acceptance :) !
Yeah, I've learned/been told that Bob's Sprint car with the Riley was absolutely beautiful workmanship, as was every vehicle that he made !
Each one of these guys from FAST , 'oldtimers' I have met....I ask if they considered writing book for us that don't know. Some no, others thought about it. One says..lost decades of notes/stuff ! Jim is the exception, so far. Back to Bob. From the variety of cars that he made, seems that he loved/built them all. Was it his Sprint Car that had the gold on the color ?

I had the pleasure of crossing paths with Bob a bunch of times over the years. Neat guy. This saddens me. Wayno

I took these photos in 2012 at Irwindale.

If you look closely, Bob is watching the red car in the right lane.

And to Rick, yes, the Gold leaf paint.

I think Mr. Brierley has the time to start putting his thoughts together for a new book. Book Two, OHV and turbocharging.

Bob made it into the 2 Club at Bonneville in 1970, quite a feat.

John

Hey Jim B,
Sorry for the loss of your longtime friend. Seems Bob lived the good life with friends like You/Cliff/Dan and a ton of others !
Also, IMO, a loss some of these guys like Bob did not leave a written legacy of what they learned personally, about our hobby, from people that we can only read about.
Guess what I've heard of Bob's skills was not exaggerated when I look his speedster over! Thanks for sharing John.

john, good luck on me writing another book i've used up all the words that i know!

'used up'...ha, even created new like diaphragm ...without the g :) !

BTW....Any significance to the gold number 4 on Bobs speedster ,i.e.- 4 th copy, 4 banger...what, is any ?
