Blown head gasket???

:(30" Tudor running great since engine rebuild in in Sept 08 (other than minor carburator issues) and always runs on the cool side 160* to 170*. About two weeks ago took her out for the day & put about 150 mi. on & she started to overheat, to about 200* to 220* & I kept it running & added quart or two of water & she cooled back down I checked for leaks & all is well, but 10 mi. later over heating again, added water again checked & no leaks, on way home started missing & running rough, got her home & found a lot of water coming out of exhaust while running. Removed plugs & ran compression test & had 100# to 102# on all cylinders but #s 3 & 4 were wet but no trace of water/antifreeze in oil. Running BF 5.9 Head & I am trying to remove head to check the gasket but haven't been able to break it free yet but is it even possible to have blown head gasket with perfect compression readings? Sorry for such a long post but trying to give best possible description

I'm not up to date with 5.9 Head's but maybe check your timing to see if it's set right... could also be the points have closed up and need adjusted?

Look for an crack near the #4 exhaust seat. Could be on the block surface and extending down into the exhaust port. That would explain your loss of coolant, and your missing and rough running.

I don't see how timing or points would connect with a coolant loss & I was very aware of the cold water (thermal shock effect) & did keep it running & added the water very slowly to avoid any boil or steam up so just to avoid that situation. I guess I need to remove the head to examine the block for any possible cracks in the valve & port area but with that in mind a blown head gasket sounds like a much friendlier scenario
!

Did the 3 torque sequence (on assembly, after warm up & after few hundred mi.) when assembled in 08' but haven't touched it since, just puzzles me how I get warm engine comp. readings of 100# on all 4 but get 2 plugs wet with coolant & losing coolant out the exhaust. I guess I'll find out when I get this head off!
