Blown Halogen High Beams

Need some help! Both of My High Beams blew at the same time. Driving home, I turned on the high beams - they got real bright for a second, then went Black. Turned back to low beam, they were and are fine.

I'm running a 6 Volt Alternator, New Harness, Bulbs are grounded ( 0.3 ohms back to battery). Do not see any nicks in the insulation. Connections are tight.

Alternator housing, also has 0.3 ohms to battery. I'm at a loss ! Any ideas out there?

Thanks; Tom in Atlanta

How do the "pimple and dimple" in the light switch look? I consistently burned out the bakelite around the copper connections until I wised up and relayed the whole front end electrical system (headlamps, driving lamps, horn). There is a lot of heat in that area, and I believe that the Halogens draw more power through that connection.
